Imperial Garden
Lu An Gua Pian, or (Little) Melon Seed Tea (from Lu An). It is named for the leaves resembling melon seeds, and originating from the town of Lu An in Anhui Province. This famous, premium organic Chinese tea is often considered a yellow tea and is sure to impress! It is composed entirely of expertly-sorted second leaves—so no bud and no third leaf. The leaves are picked late in the Spring, giving the leaves their size and body, but are still the first pick, or flush, of the year—giving the tea its characteristic richness.
Boldly but smoothly vegetal, with a creamy spinach character. There is also an alfalfa undertone with a slight buttery, fruity sweetness. The finish has a light minerality and nuttiness.
This tea is known to be well above-average in vitamin C, antioxidants, and other healthful compounds. Due to its voluminous leaves, the serving price is quite reasonable despite being one of our premium teas!
Ingredients: Organic Chinese green tea.
Caffeine: 3.5/5
Brewing recommendations: one tablespoon dried tea per 16oz with 170° water for three minutes. Will steep three or more times.
